2018 with the Melbourne Welsh Male Choir

2018 has been a very exciting year for the Melbourne welsh Male Choir.

The highlights of the first half of the year were 2 concerts with world-renowned opera singer Teddy Tahu Rhodes. Teddy has performed with some of the world’s leading Opera Companies, starred in productions of ‘The King and I’ and ‘Sweeney Todd’ and has won many awards.

We had 2 concerts in June 2018:

  • 23rd June at the Melbourne Recital Centre
  • 24th June at Ulunbarra Theatre in Bendigo

Also appearing was Kate Amos who has completed advanced operatic training in Wales, and was our 2016 Singer Of The Year.

  11. The annual concert at St Mary’s Basilica in Geelong presented by Tuckers Funeral Homes
  12. A “Triple Treat” at the Kingston Arts Centre in Moorabbin with the Sydney Welsh Choir and the Australian Youth Band

The highlight of the second half of the year has been another big concert at the Melbourne Town Hall on November 11th to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Armistice Day, again with the Australian Youth Band but also with special guest artists Marina Prior and Mike Brady.

The audience was treated to a wonderful program of music with a great mix of nostagia and uplifting sing-along songs from World War 1 onwards.  Marina Prior and Mike Brady added that extra “something” to the afternoon’s entertainment.

Coming up:

  • We will finish the year off with a double header of christmas concerts in Mooroolbark.
