Melbourne Welsh Male Choir
Melbourne Welsh Male Choir was formed in 1984 by a group of mainly Welsh migrants who wished to bring the culture of their homeland to their new home.
While maintaining the Welsh choral singing tradition the Melbourne Welsh Choir created its own unique “Australian” sound and style and continues to do so. Our patron – Alwyn Humphreys has said of the choir “it is the best Welsh choir heard outside of Wales”

WHO ARE WE?
We are a group of men of varying ages and backgrounds who share a love of singing in the Welsh choral tradition.
As you can see from the photograph, we have a lot of experience in the choir.
The photos show the gentlemen of the choir grouped by voice section from left to right looking at the photograph – Tenor 1, Tenor 2, Baritone and Bass. The importance of the section depends on the section you belong to. Our Music Director Mitch Meyer is in the centre in the front row.
For us, the quality of the singing we produce for our audiences is critical and we derive immense pleasure from the feedback we get. However what is also critical is the overall health benefits for all from involvement with a great bunch of blokes.

A LITTLE MORE ABOUT US
The youngest of the Welsh Male choirs in Victoria was formed in 1984 by a group of mainly Welsh migrants who wished to bring the culture of their homeland to their new home.
While maintaining the Welsh choral singing tradition the Melbourne Welsh Choir created its own unique “Australian” sound and style and continues to do so. Our patron – Alwyn Humphreys has said of the choir “it is the best Welsh choir heard outside of Wales”
As befits any forward thinking organisation, the choir accepts choristers from any part of the world and sings music from all parts of the music spectrum from African protest chants like “Senzenina” or a New Zealand lullaby such as “Hine e Hine” to rock songs like “Somebody to love” or Mozart’s “Missa Solemnis” (which the choir sang in Salzburg).
Within this website we hope to give you a glimpse of what our audiences, prospective clients and prospective choristers can expect to experience.
