From the opening bars of Deus Salutis to the ovation which followed the final strains of Mae hen wlad fy’n hadau (the Welsh National Anthem) the capacity audience at the James Tatoulis auditorium was treated to a wonderful afternoon’s entertainment.

Our male soloist Erfyl Tomos Jones demonstrated why he deserved the Blue Riband at the Welsh National Eisteddfod, with a powerful rendition of Gwlad y Delyn, a tender interpretation of My little Welsh home, a moving version of Danny Boy and the romantic ballad You needed me.
Amelia Wawrzon then took the stage to delight the audience singing Eric Coates beautiful song Birdsong at Eventide.
Chloe Harris, dressed in breeches as Cherubino – the Count’s page, sang Voi che sapete from Mozart’s Opera The Marriage of Figaro.
Amelia and Chloe returned to the stage to perform two duets perfectly suited to their voices – the Flower Song from the opera Lakmeby Delibes and, in combination with the choir, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s beautiful Pie Jesu.

As always the St Davids Day concert was a spine-tingling, powerful and emotional performance. Ieuan Thomas’ heartfelt recitation of the poem ‘My Father Was A Miner’ brought tears to many eyes in the audience. Our compere Bill Spawton’s passion for Wales kept the audience engaged in both the performance and the message of the songs.
All members of the choir were proud of the tremendous performance which was the result of months of hard work by all individual choristers and the executive committee. Al of which is coordinated and energised by the much appreciated leadership of David Ashton-Smith our Musical Director.
